01 — About me

A CS graduate who
likes building things.

I studied Computer Science at the University of Salford, graduating in 2025. I'm interested in data science, AI, data mining and problem solving. Object-oriented programming in Java, C# and Python is where I enjoy myself most. Today I work in IT Operations & Monitoring, keeping banking services running around the clock.

  • Monitor production banking services across multiple dashboards, covering service health, databases and messaging.
  • Operate and manage scheduled batch jobs with workload automation tools.
  • Run End of Day (EOD) processing on the core banking system, including database backups beforehand, supporting 24/7 uptime.

03 — Education & journey

How I got here

BSc (Hons) Computer Science, University of Salford, United Kingdom, 2025.

UNIVERSITY OF SALFORD

Learning to think in objects

Object-oriented programming clicked for me early on, and I built projects in Java, C# and Python using OOP principles.

JavaC#PythonSoftware Engineering
CORE MODULES

Foundations

Data structures and algorithms, database systems with SQL, Linux and Bash scripting, and building websites.

DATA & AI

Data mining and artificial intelligence

Finding patterns in data, and the theory behind how intelligent systems search, learn and reason.

GAMES

Building worlds

An open-world Lord of the Rings game in Unity about the last battle at the end of the world, a VR mission set in that world, and a week trying out Unreal Engine.

Real-time text detection & translation

A camera app that reads text and translates it live using Google Cloud Vision and Google Translate. Then I graduated.

Real-time Text Detection & Translation

Pick your language, turn on the camera, and any text in view is detected and translated live while the camera keeps running.

Try it live

The camera never stops. Text is detected and translated continuously, frame after frame. Show it a random sign, or write your own text in any language.

  • Built in Python with the Google Cloud Vision API for OCR
  • Image preprocessing to improve detection accuracy
  • Live camera input, translated with the Google Translate API

Academic game projects in Unity and C#, set in Middle-earth.

THE LAST BATTLE

Unity · C# · Open world

Open-World 3D Game: The Lord of the Rings

In Tolkien’s legend, the world ends with the Last Battle (the Dagor Dagorath): every force of good and evil rises again for one final fight. In my game, evil wins and Morgoth’s armies take over. But one good man never fought in that battle. He wakes up on the shore of an island and recognises famous landmarks: the two great statues of the Argonath, Mount Doom, and the gates of Moria. He soon learns the land is crawling with orcs and a troll, so to survive he has to fight his way through and defeat Morgoth himself.

  • Wake up on a shore beside the Argonath, Mount Doom and Moria
  • Fight off orcs that keep coming from an orc spawner
  • Face the troll boss, then Morgoth himself
  • Free exploration with no scripted missions

VR Mission: Assault on the Orc Camp

Built afterwards as an extension of the game: a virtual reality mission where you see the world through the hero’s eyes, sword in hand, as you attack an orc camp.

  • First-person VR combat
  • Set in the same world as the open-world game

Main engine

Unity

My go-to engine. Both Middle-earth projects, the open world and the VR mission, were built in Unity with C#.

Hands-on week

Unreal Engine taster

When an Unreal Engine vendor visited, we got to use the engine for free for a week. It was a good chance to compare its workflow with Unity's.

Data analysis

Sales Data Analysis & Visualisation

Analysed a retail sales dataset. I cleaned missing and inconsistent values, explored trends and sales patterns, applied basic statistics to performance and correlations, and presented the insights as charts.
